The wood is gradually heated to 160-230ºC, changing its molecular structure and becoming more resistant and dimensionally more stable. This awards softer woods similar properties to harder tropical species, and results in a warm and darker colour. Thermally modifying wood does not use chemical reagents harmful to the environment, and no products are applied to the wood during treatment. The total absence of chemical agents preserves the natural beauty of the wood allowing its harmonious combination with several decorative solutions.”
